73, Glace Bay Arline Carol MacVicar, 73, of Glace Bay, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in the presence of her family at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Gordon and Sarah (Morrison) Ferguson. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. Arline was a Cum Laude graduate of Mount Allison University Class of 1957, and a graduate of Provincial Normal College Class of 1953. She taught at Morrison Glace Bay High School for several years before starting her family. Aside from her interests in history, language and literature, she was very active in the affairs of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church until her illness. Arline is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles MacVicar; sons, Ian (Nancy), Hammonds Plains, Neil (Mary), Albert Bridge, Allan (Mary), Bedford; daughter, Morah (Brian) McKinlay, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Sarah, Lindsay, Katie, Allan, Laura; stepgrandchildren, Chris, Daniel and Ryan. Also surviving are sister, Norma (George) Beresford, Glace Bay; brother, Stewart (Anne) Ferguson, Mineville; sister-in-law, Martha, Toronto; brother-in-law, Donald (Ann) Bedford; sister-in-law, Isabel MacVicar, Black Point; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in her honour Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Rev. Lloyd Murdock officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul’s Building Fund or charity of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
