DUPLACEY, LESLIE JOSEPH - 1910-2003 - Leslie J. Duplacey, 93, of Sixth Street, Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, July 23, 2003. Born in Chatham, NB on June 25, 1910 he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Maher) Duplessie. He was a member of St. Bernards Roman Catholic Church. Leslie retired as chief operator with the CNCP Telecommunications with 50 years service, having worked in Chatham, Campbellton, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, and Moncton. He was a career long member and local representative in the Moncton area of the commercial telegraphers union and a member of the CN Pensioners Association. He was a long time secretary of the CN Dart League and he was an avid Bowler. He will always be remembered for his essays and tall tales "True Lies- Life on the Miramichi." He is survived by daughter Jeanne Melanson (Paul) of Moncton, sons; John Duplacey (Susan) of Fredericton, James Duplacey (Peggy Bertelsen) of Ottawa, brother Gerard Duplessie of Chatham, five grandchildren; Patricia, Kathleen, Tina, Derron, and Rachelle, six great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Dorothy (Currie) Duplacey in 2001, sisters Frances, and Adeline (Kinsella), brothers Harry and Jack. At his request there will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at St. Bernards Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 10:30 am with Father Peter McKee officiating. Interment will be in St. Michaels Parish Cemetery, Chatham, NB, Saturday afternoon. In Leslie's memory, donations made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tuttle Bros.
