CARROLL, FLORENCE - The passing of Florence "Babs" Carroll of Doaktown, wife of Hudson Carroll, occurred on Friday, August 8, 2003, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Halifax, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Dottie (Fleet) Jeffrey. "Babs" was a member of Saint Thomas United Church, the church choir as well as an avid bridge player. Florence is survived by her most caring, devoted husband of fifty-five years Hudson Carroll. She was a very loving mother of four daughters, Barbara Mattie, Doaktown, Shirley (Rod) Wood, Willow Grove, Sandra (David) Nelson Ottawa, On, Dottie (Ron) Melanson, Saint John; five sons, Terrence (Kendra) Carroll, Lower Sackville, NS, George (Heather) Carroll, Lower Sackville, NS, Hudson Jr. (Shirley) Carroll, Dartmouth, NS, Benjamin (Peppy) Carroll, Saint John, Carvell (Sherry) Carroll, Martinon, NB; twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Jeffrey, Halifax, NS; one sister, Myrtle McGovern, Lower Sackville, NS; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Florence was predeceased by three brothers, George, Harry and Clarence Jeffrey; one sister, Margaret Ozon. Visitation for "Babs" will take place on Monday, August 11, 2003, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon. A funeral service will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 from Saint Thomas United Church, Doaktown, with Rev. Heather Froats officiating. The internment will follow the service at the Saint Thomas United Church Cemetery.
