HILDA VIVIAN MYLES
MYLES, HILDA VIVIAN - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 9, 2003, Hilda Vivian (Galbraith) Myles of Saint John West, widow of Donald A. Myles. Born in Lorneville on August 17, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Andrew Galbraith. Hilda was a great support to her husband Donald, who was in the grocery business for many years. Hilda was active in many organizations, including the War Club during WWII, which became the Bridge Club, Chaplain of the Orange Lodge, member of the SJGH Hospital Auxiliary Inc., Charter Life Member and Past President of the United Church Women, Past President of the Carleton Curling Club, Past Worthy Matron of the Philip A. Jerguson Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star, former member and Standard Bearer of the IODE and the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Hilda was a 30 year summer resident of "Wally's" at the Cambridge-Narrows, where she had many friends. Hilda was a lifelong hockey fan from the Saint John Beavers to the Saint John Flames. She enjoyed traveling to Nova Scotia, Boston, England and Europe with family and friends. A summary of how Hilda viewed life comes from her recent statement, "I love my family." Surviving are one son Donald G. and his wife Shirley Myles of Grand Bay-Westfield, two daughters, Vivian and her husband Dr. Avery McCordick of Fredericton and The Rev. S. Marlyne M. Myles of Bedford, NS., Daughter-in-law Fran Myles of Saint John , sisters Viola Evans of Lorneville and Elinor Knox of Saint John, grandchildren Kim MacGowan of London Ontario, Lynn White of Halifax, Douglas Myles of Saint John, Andrew Myles of Calgary, John Jarvis of Grand Bay-Westfield, Michael McCordick of Fredericton, Janice Myles Johnson of Caracas Venezuela, Philip Myles of Quispamsis, Dr. Scott Myles of New Maryland, Tony Myles of Saint John and Tammy Webb of Fredericton Junction. Hilda is also survived by 13 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Donald A. Myles, sons Douglas and Lester, sisters Beulah Splane, Margaret Phillips, Audrey Alderman, and brother Winfred, daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) Myles and grand-daughter Sheri Lynne McCordick. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, N.B. (506) 634-1701. The funeral service will be held from the Carleton-Kirk United Church, 1 Carleton Kirk Place, Saint John West on Thursday, August 14th at 2 pm with the Rev. Leander Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visiting at Fallsview on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Sheri Lynne McCordick Memorial Bursary at the University of New Brunswick, the Betty Myles Memorial Scholarship Fund of the International Order of the Kings Daughters and Sons, the Westside Food Bank or a charity of the donor's choice.
