74, Sydney It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend on Aug. 23, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. Born in Sydney, Oct. 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Jessie (MacSween) Richey. Her love for family and friend was evident in her baking and a good strong cup of tea. You could hear the sound of music in the house all the time She is survived by her loving husband, Parker; daughter, Vivian Chisholm and sons Edward (Liz), Vincent, Donald (Marge), James, and ten grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Audrey Matheson; half-brother, Tommy McCarthy (Victoria) and half-sisters, Helen Powell (Sydney) and Norma 'Toots' Frost (Saint John). She was predeceased by brothers, Douglas 'Rocky' and Howard 'Bolly'. Visitation will take place today (Tuesday, Aug. 26) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception area. Interment to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, Parkinson's or Children's Wish Foundation Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chant's.
