Alice (Ryan) Windsor

1935 – 2008 Reserve Mines On Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, God called his Angel, Alice, to be home with Him. Born in Reserve Mines, Alice was the daughter of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Hines) Ryan. Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was most happy when surrounded by her family. In her younger years, Alice worked at the Reserve Co-op and later at Victoria Haven where she made friends with everyone whom she came into contact. Alice was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of the Lay Carmelite Community and served her parish of St. Joseph through her volunteer efforts. One of her greatest joys was singing in the parish choir. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Sonny; children, Mel (Wanda), Larry, Maureen (Noel), John (Helen), Bernie (Valerie), Keith (Lisa); cherished grandchildren, Rick and Melissa Windsor, Jeff, Nadine and Jennifer Clements, Christopher and Hillary Windsor; sisters, Sadie LeClair, Montreal, Mary (Gerard) MacIntyre, Ontario; brothers, Bernie (Bernice), Paddy (Sheila), Larry (Kay) and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jim, Martin, John, Billly and a special niece, Elizabeth. Visitation for Alice Windsor will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The Lay Carmelites will recite the Rosary at 3:45 p.m. A mass of Christian Farewell will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4 at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with Fr.
