92, Southside Boularderie Nan passed away peacefully at the Northside General Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008. Nan spent most of her life in Florence, moved to Boularderie in 1974 and for the past seven years, was a vibrant resident of the Northside Community Guest Home. The daughter of the late Tom and Ellen (Coakley) Dolhanty, Nan was predeceased by her husband, William, a daughter in infancy, sisters, Angeline Jessome and Catherine MacKeigan and brothers, Thomas, Stephen and John Dolhanty. She is survived by her brother, Fr. Francis Dolhanty, Cove Guest Home; her daughter, Colleen (Peter MacDonald) and her sons, Earl (Bev), Paul (Laurette) and Steve (Jeannette). She took pride and joy in her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Nan was a devout Roman Catholic and member of St. Stephen’s parish, Florence. A talented crafter, Nan spent countless hours knitting and crocheting — skills she taught to anyone who wanted to learn. In her younger years, she taught night school and worked at the canteen at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Her caring and sharing will be missed by family and friends. Visitation will take place Friday, Sept. 5, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, Florence. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bras d’Or. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
