Marvin Barrett

Calgary, Alta. April 5, 1949-Sept. 1, 2008 It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the death of Marvin Edwin Barrett, who died suddenly at home in Calgary, Alta. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Florence (Head), Sydney and the late Chesley Barrett. Marvin worked as a draftsman for many years with various companies across Canada. He also loved to play guitar and fly fish. He will always be remembered for his dry sarcasm and sense of humour that we all came to know and love. Marvin is survived by his daughters, Amy Barrett, Sydney, and Chessam Barrett, Grande Prairie; son, Kyle Barrett, Sydney; two grandchildren, Rylee Mickey, Sydney, and Ryder Hennick, Grande Prairie; brother, Butch Barrett, Newfoundland; sisters, Madeline Bishop, Gail Barrett, Brenda (Tom) Pittman and Judy MacKay, all of Sydney, Ruth (Ken) Ranni, Halifax, and Laura (Harvey) Pennell, New Brunswick; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Monday at 11 a.m. with Maj. William Head officiating. Interment in Eastmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. “People come and go in our lives, and some leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same.” You will be forever missed by all who loved you.
