DOUGLAS BERTRAM FALCONER

FALCONER, DOUGLAS BERTRAM - Douglas Bertram Falconer passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on October 3, 2003. Born in Stellarton on January 6, 1925 he was the only son of Duncan and Hazel (Turnbull) Falconer. Doug was born and educated in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres of World War II. Upon his discharge, Doug and the late Everett Adamson owned and operated Acadia Cabs in Stellarton for a number of years. Doug went on to a career in oil refining and retired in 1989 after service for 30 years with Irving Oil in Saint John, New Brunswick. Doug was a member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion Stellarton. He was also a member of the Admiral Murray Branch of the Royal Canadian Naval Association. Doug is survived by his wife the former Donna (MacKay) his only daughter Susan Falconer of Ottawa, a nephew James (Beverly) Robertson of Halifax, a niece Hazel (Paul) Reyno of Lower Sackville, N.S., one grand nephew, four grand nieces and one great grand niece, besides his parents Doug was predeceased by his only son Douglas Jr. and his sister Jean, Mrs. J. Allister Robertson of Halifax. Visitation will take place on Monday from 7-9 p.m. in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home Stellarton, from where funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 2 P.M. with the Naval Chaplain officiating. A reception will follow. A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday 2 p.m. in the Hampton Rural Cemetery, Hampton, New Brunswick with Rev. Keith Lyons officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory Doug may be made to the I.W.K. Foundation Children's Research Services. Memorial donations may be placed in memory of Doug with Castle "Kings Chapel" Funeral Home, Rothesay, New Brunswick. (849-1702)
