Passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of his loving family on July 5, 2008, aged 58 years. Predeceased by his parents Gerald and Sheila Connolly, father and mother-in-law John and Eileen Whelan and brother-in-law Cyril (Hoppy) Whelan. Leaving to mourn with loving memories his Best Friend and cherished wife Mary (nee Whelan), adored children: Jennifer (Tyler Vincent), Sarah (Fiancé Brian Bartlett) and son Daniel. Gerry will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his siblings: Derm (Vivian), Dave (Mary), Genevieve Halfyard (Bill), Mary Connolly-Wilson (John), Dianne Kilner (Ed), Don (Donna), and John, as well as his nieces and nephews: Paul, Andrea and Joanne; David, Michelle and Blair; Karen, Billy and Sheri; Rebecca; Suzanne; Christopher and Shawn; Jonathan and Matthew. He will be missed by a large circle of cherished relatives and friends especially his Aunt Phyllis Kelly; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Katherine Whelan, John (Mary), and Leonard (Carol-Ann); special cousin Dave Martin (Barbara); Godchildren: Andrea Connolly-Ward and Gemma Hickey-Schlamp as well as the staff of British Confectionery and the countless number of children who knew him as Santa. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Tuesday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 9 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist Church.
