Daryl William Hennessey

Passed on: September 10th, 2008

55, Glace Bay It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father Daryl William Hennessey, 55, Glace Bay, who passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sept. 10, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Mark and Clara (Wareham) Hennessey. Daryl was employed with the Cape Breton Island Housing Authority for 30 years. Prior to that he was employed with the Department of Housing. Our father’s passion in life was his Harley Davidson motorcycle. I have never seen someone so proud and full of life when he put on his helmet and started the engine on his bike — he was born to live and lived to ride. Right alongside his passion for his bike was the tremendous amount of love and joy he had for his two grandchildren. Kiyah and Lucas gave our father dignity and pride to be called Papa and his family meant the world to him. Daryl is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Ryan) and Natasha (Megan) Hennessey; grandchildren, Kiyah and Lucas; the love of his life, Debbie; brothers, Joe (Irene), Brian (Stephanie), Bruce (Deanna) and Sheldon (Tara); sisters, Cheryl (Ernie), Anne (Alex), Marina (Walter) and Jolean (Billy). Besides his parents, Daryl was predeceased by his sister Helen and brothers Wayne and Blair. Daryl, a father, a papa, and a brother will be missed so much each and every day but will always hold a place in each of our hearts. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. at Warden United Church with Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolence’s may be sent to patten@seaside.ns.ca. “I did it my way.”
