
Graham Bagnell

78, Sydney/North Sydney It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Graham Cecil Bagnell age 78 resident of Spruce Haven Drive, Sydney and former longtime resident of North Sydney, which occurred Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in North Sydney, Graham was a son of the late William Fultz and Ethel May (Bragg) Bagnell. He was employed with the Canadian National Railway as a conductor and later as yard master in North Sydney until his retirement. He was an active member of the United Trainmen Union for a number of years. He was a devout family man and a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. He is survived by his sons, Graham (Anne) Bagnell, N.S., Michael Bagnell, Alberta, Hugh Bagnell, N.S., Brian (Carrie) Bagnell, N.B.; his daughter, Cathy (Ron) MacPherson, Florida; a number of grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Elsa, Ontario; brothers, Freeman (Joan) Bagnell, P.E.I., Fultz and Phil (Isabel) Bagnell, both of N.S. The family would like to express a special thanks to longtime companion and care giver Shirley MacLeod, also to the doctors and nursing staff of the Northside General Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Hospital and QE II Health Sciences Center for the care shown to Graham during these past several months. Graham was predeceased by his wife Vaughan (Burke) Bagnell, by his daughter Bonnie Gillis, sisters Dinah and Beulah and brother Roland. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street North Sydney. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating.
