John Alexander 'Tiger' MacMullin

81, Tower Road It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Alexander ‘Tiger’ MacMullin, 81, of Tower Road, on Monday, Sept.15, 2008, at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Gabarus Lake, he was the son of the late Norman and Christina (MacIntyre) MacMullin. Tiger was employed by Devco in Caledonia and Number 26 mines where he retired from after 43 years. Papa John was well known and loved by all in the community. He was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, St. Mary’s Social Club, and an honorary member of the Tower Road Volunteer Fire Department having served for 30 years as an active member. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; one daughter, Alice (Steve) Murphy; two sons, John and Greg; three grandchildren, Tracey, Bryne (Tammy) and Gregory; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Emmah. John is also survived by sister-in-law, Lola Videto; nephews, Jim and Doug Videto and a niece, Marilyn Simpson. John was predeceased by a brother, Donald and an infant son. Visitation for the late John MacMullin will be held Wednesday, Sept 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home & Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Rev. Vernon Reed officiating. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
