78, Whitney Pier It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Nina Jean (Sheppard) Callaghan on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Jane (Rhymes) Sheppard. Mom was a devoted member of St. Albans Anglican Church. Her faith was strong and steadfast, a source of great comfort. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Sydney. Family was important to Mom. She dedicated her life, loving and nurturing her children and grandchildren. Mom leaves a legacy of family, faith, love, laughter and generosity to all who knew her. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, John. Also left to mourn her passing are daughters, Carolyn (David Holland) and Janet (John Wylde); three grandsons, who were the center of her world, Mark and his wife, Johnna (mom’s special ‘granddaughter’), Jonathan and Greg. Jean was predeceased by her only son, Gary in 1994. Also predeceased by her sisters, Geraldine and Eleanor and only brother, James. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Albans Anglican Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Albans Building Fund. Mom, your gentle smile and generous heart will live with us, forever.
