CARTER, EUNICE E. - Eunice E. Carter, cherished wife of Bruce C.L. Carter of Carleton Place, Ontario passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on Saturday, November 8th 2003, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John, NB on August 9th 1942, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (McCavour) Maguire. She was retired from Transport Canada and was recently awarded the Paul Tissandier Diploma of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, for her 14 years of dedication and devotion in the promotion of the John C. Webster Memorial Trophy Competition. The Canadian Snowbirds Aerobatic Demonstration Team were touched by her courage and made her "Honorary Snow Bird # 1". She was a strong advocate of the Breast Cancer Society and a valued member of the "Living for Today" Cancer Support Group. She is known for cheering and supporting others despite her own illness and especially befriending those just beginning their treatments. Her bubbly personality will be missed by many, many friends including many from Hawaii who wish her "Much Aloha". She attended Beckwith Baptist Church. Besides her husband she is survived by her brother Clem (Lee) Maguire of Cayuga, Ontario and two sisters, Esther (Jim) Magee of Rothesay, NB and Lois (Bry'n) Ross of Dartmouth, NS. She is also survived by her step-daughters Suzanne (John) Lisson of Quispamsis, NB. and Leslie (Earl) Rice of Saint John NB. She is the much loved step-grandmother of Janice (Craig) Hamilton of Florenceville, NB, John (Amy Winsor) Lisson of Stephenville, Nfld. and Jennifer (Jeremy) Porter, Tara Steeves, Ben Steeves and Meghan (Trevor Fleury) Steeves all of Saint John, NB. She is also the much loved aunt of Bruce Magee, Brent (Julie) Magee, Scott (Jeannette) Magee and Philip (Shauna) Maguire of Saint John NB., Mark (Jillian) Magee of Fredericton, Kelly (Sean) Craig of Quispamsis, NB., and Dennett and Ian Ross of Dartmouth, NS. Each knew they were her "favorite". She is also survived by her five step-great-grandchildren and six great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her niece Deborah Magee and nephew Allen Maguire. Special mention must be made of many "children" who took part in the Webster Memorial Trophy Competition to whom she was affectionately known as "Ma Webster". Friends may call at the ALAN R. BARKER FUNERAL HOME 19 McArthur Ave., Carleton Place, Ontario on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. Funeral Service to follow in Calvary Pentecostal Church, Carleton Place at 2 p.m. with Pastor Todd Braye of Beckwith Baptist Church officiating. Interment at United Cemeteries, Carleton Place. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank the staff of the Ottawa General's 5 East, especially nurses Mychelle and Jeannine and Dr. Touchie, Dr. Tomiak and the nurses and staff of the Ottawa Cancer Clinic for their many kindness.
