81, Sydney It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our father and grandfather, Wilfred Clements, Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John Wilfred and Ethel Mae (Mercer) Clements. He was a member of Church of Christ the King. He was employed as commissioner at the Sydney City Hospital. He was a veteran of the Canadian Army where he served overseas. Wilfred enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sports fisherman. Wilfred is survived by four sons, Wilfred Jr., John (Darlene), both of Sydney, John (Elaine), Weymouth, David (Maureen), Ottawa, and daughters, Pamela (Vince) Tutty Glace Bay, Debbie (Darren) Genge, Halifax, Linda Hibbert, Ontario, as well as his companion of four years, Dorothy Pinkston, Sydney. Wilfred is also survived by 15 grandchildren as well as 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ina, Toronto, Carolyn, Oshawa, Ont., as well as one brother, Herbert (Jean Ellen), B.C. Besides his parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his wife, Jean Clements; his son, Timmothy; stepmother, Mary Legge; three brothers, Gerald, Stanley and John, as well as a sister, Loretta. There will be no visitation by his request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford, 862-7500. A funeral service to celebrate Wilfred’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ the King, George Street, Sydney, with Rev. Glenn Kent officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Wilfred’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
