BURTON CECIL "BURT" WILLIAMS

WILLIAMS, BURTON CECIL "BURT" - The death of Burton Cecil Williams "Burt" of Fredericton, NB occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the loving husband of Mona Ann (Lutes) Williams. Predeceased by his parents the late Augusta "Gussie" (Lane) and Cecil "Cye" Williams. Survived by his wife, Mona Ann Williams, daughter Julie Ann Sharpe (Jeffrey Donald), precious granddaughter, Claire Edith Sharpe and sister, Shirley Helen (Gordon) Snow all of Fredericton, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burt's career began working with Furness Withy in Saint John and Montreal. After moving to Fredericton in the early 1970's, he worked with Elm Glass, the NB Highway Patrol and retired from Commercial Vehicle Enforcement with 17 years of dedicated service. One of Burt's great loves was the St. John River. His fondness for boating and his life long love of the water began in his youth with summers spent at the family cottage at Martinon. This interest continued through the years with many visits to the Reach and culminated with the enjoyment he experienced with his family in recent years at his home on the river in Fredericton. Burt will always be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit and tremendous sense of humour. His passion for hockey was always evident as he cheered on his Toronto Maple Leafs. Burt's most treasured moment was being at the birth of his granddaughter. Grampie cherished his time with Claire and her face never failed to light up when she saw him. This brought him great joy. Burt was an A/CST. with the Fredericton Detachment of the RCMP for over fifteen years and a lifetime member of the UCT. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, December 22nd, 2003 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Parish Church on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2003 at 2:00 pm. The Venerable John Sharpe will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.mcadamsfh.com
