85, Glace Bay It is with great sadness we announce the death of Beatrice Catherine Walker, 85 years of age, of 18 Concord St., Glace Bay, Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008. Bea faced her death with the grace that characterized each and every day of her life. The last surviving member of the family of the late John and Margaret (MacDonald) Walker, she was predeceased by brother, Hugh and sisters, Mary and Eileen. She is survived by her adopted daughter, Teresa MacEachern, with whom she resided. Bea will be greatly missed by her extended family, most of whom reside in the Melford/Glendale area of Cape Breton, and her many friends, most particularly her lifelong friend, Mary MacEachern. Bea’s home provided the warmest hospitality to friends and family, whether it be for holidays or for just dropping in. She worked in the coal company office for 44 years before retirement and was a lifetime member of St. Anne’s parish, an active member of the CWL and the ladies choir. Visitation will take place at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church with internment in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow at the family home on Concord Street. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Foundation in Bea’s name.
