July 26, 1921-Sept. 23, 2008 Bras d’Or/Glace Bay It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Philip May, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, in his 88th year. Born in Belloram, N.L., he was the son of the late Verena and Isaac May. Phil served with the Merchant Marine Navy and was a member of the Naval Vets, and Branch 19 of the Royal Canadian Legion, North Sydney. He worked at Stelco in Hamilton, Ont., for 32 years before retiring and returning to Little Bras d’Or. Phil was a loving and devoted father to Dave (Judy), Tarbot, Cape Breton, and Doug (Debbie), Hamilton, Ont.; cherished grandfather of Christopher, Michael, Bryan and Todd; great-grandfather to Gavin, Clark and Natasha. He is also survived by Ethel, Eileen, Pat, Queenie, Clarence and Norma. Phil will be sadly missed by Jackie, Alex, Elizabeth and Jacquelyn, and by the many other friends and family whose lives he touched in such a special way. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ethel (Young) May, sister, Dot and brother, Clarence. Visitation for Philip May will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
