77, North Sydney It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of their father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Norman Lloyd Hatcher, age 77, on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at the Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late George and Carolyn (Simm) Hatcher. Norman was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic, until his retirement. He was a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club and a member of the North Sydney Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and he also spent many enjoyable hours at his favorite past time of woodworking. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. He is survived by his two daughters, Norma (Ralph) Buffett, North Sydney, Karen (Thomas) Robertson, Lawrencetown and one son, Don (Susan Farrell), North Sydney; three grandchildren, Tracey Hatcher, Devon Buffett, Rebecca Robertson; his three brothers, Melvin Hatcher, North Sydney, Gordon Hatcher, Sydney Mines and Vern Hatcher, Halifax and his very special friend, Rose Collier. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Huelin) Hatcher; a brother, Charles Hatcher and a sister, Thelma Bailey. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
