
Mary Catherine 'Kaye' MacInnis

69, New Waterford Kaye MacInnis, 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 3 , 2008 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah (MacArthur) MacInnis. She moved to New Waterford at an early age where she attended Saint Agnes School. After school, she attended the Cape Breton Business College. Upon completion, she began working at the New Waterford Hospital in medical records, where she remained until her retirement. Kaye was deeply involved in Saint Agnes parish where she was a member of the C.W.L., St. Vincent de Paul and on many committees. One of her great passions was the Progressive Conservative Party where she worked tirelessly for the local party and attended several functions. She enjoyed bowling and going on many long walks. Kaye is survived by sister, Florence (Al) Homeniuk, Brantford, Ont.; brother, Russell (Bev), Simcoe, Ont.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Kaye was predeceased by sister, Dency and brothers, John, Owen, Alex, and James. Kaye will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Visitation for the late Kaye MacInnis will take place Sunday, Oct. 5 from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of St. Leonard, Saint Agnes Church, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Saint Agnes Parish Hall. Donations in her memory may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, New Waterford Hospital, or Feed Nova Scotia.
