HERB. E HACKETT
HACKETT, HERB. E - The death of Herbert (Herbie) Elgin Hackett of Second St. East, husband of Rose (Butler) Hackett occurred on February 25, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Tinkerton, NB, he was the son of the late Henry and Julia Hackett. Herbie was employed at Saint John Shipbuilding as a burner for 47 years until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed woodworking and building knickknacks for family and friends, was an avid hockey player in his younger years with the Dry Dock Royals, played some junior hockey and was a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Red Sox. Herbie was a member of the Adanac Club and former member of the Carleton York Club. Besides his wife he is survived by one son John (Kathy) Hackett, two daughters Judy (Roger) Daigle and Linda (Roland) Morais all of Saint John, six grandchildren David (Natasha) Hackett, Patti (Graham) Townsend, Bev (Jeff) Underhill, Kim Hackett, Melissa Hackett and Nicole Daigle, four great-grandchildren Maddison, Dylan, Kennedy and Abby. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one son William. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, February 26, 2004 from 7-9 pm and Friday, February 27, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, 2004 from Stella Maris Church at 10: 00 am. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
