57, Baddeck It is with fond and pleasant memories that the family announces her passing on October 9, 2008, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Neil’s Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Evelyn (Best) Seymour. She worked as a cook at Telegraph House for 23 years and at the Gaelic College for two and a half years. She was a member of St. Peter-St. John Anglican Church, Baddeck. Fern was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Clyde Briand; sons, Lawrence (Meghan), Travais (Nicole) and Barry (Carla); brothers, Herbert (Eleanor), Terry (Joyce), Lawrence (Jerri), Wade (Mary Ellen); sisters, Nadine (Wendell) Stockley, Dale (Stephen) Hussey, Roxanne (Steve) Coutts and Gay Seymour; grandchildren, Kayla, Catherine, Bryan and Sophia. She was predeceased by infant brother, Norman. In keeping with Fern’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. Funeral, Monday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. in Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck, with Rev. Peter Rafus officiating, assisted by her brother, Wade Seymour. Burial will be in St. John Anglican Cemetery, MacCharles Cross, Big Baddeck. Donations may be made to the Cancer Treatment Centre at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney or to the family.
