77, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Leo Purcell, age 77, of Mechanic Street, Glace Bay. Pat passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex, with his family members at his side. Born in Harbour Grace, Nfld., he was the son of the late Pierce and Zela. Pat was a former lumberjack and was employed with the fisheries. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Vera (Burden); children, Pierce, Beatrice, Reg, Ann Denise; brothers, Leo (Hazel), Alphonse (Gwen), Richard (Marilyn); sisters, Phoebe (Thomas), Eileen (Leonard), all of Newfoundland; cherished grandchildren, Marie, Cecil, Patrick, Alicia, Nicole, Vanessa; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Tanisha, Sarah, Hannah, Nicholas; also many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Paul Purcell. Pat was a kind and gentle man who loved his family dearly and volunteered his time to the seniors. In honouring Pat’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
