1943-2008 Glace Bay It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Martha Jessome, 65, of Brookland Street, Glace Bay. Martha passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at her residence with her loving family by her side. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Marjorie (Currie) Reed. Martha was a member of the Glace Bay Salvation Army, serving with the League of Mercy, Home League and Bible Class. Martha will be sadly missed by her devoted husband, Michael who with love, kindness and compassion cared for her through the many years of her illness. Also surviving are the four loves of her life, her sons, Michael, William, Douglas and Samuel; sisters and best friends, Audrey MacKinnon and Patricia Thomson; brothers, Sam and Jess Reed; three grandchildren, Dale, Tony and Dawson, for whom she has a most special love; great-grandchild, Chloe; and niece, Norma Marie McLellen, who was like a daughter to the family. Love and thanks to Mary MacDougall, her first cousin and best friend. Visitation for Martha Jessome will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Glace Bay Salvation Army Church, Union Street, Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held, 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, in the Salvation Army Church with Captains Kristian and Lesley Simms officiating. Interment will be at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Family flowers only please.
