GRANT, MURRAY M. - The death of Murray M. Grant of Meductic, husband of Iva (Clark) Grant, occurred on Sunday, March 28, 2004 at his residence. Born in Riceville, he was the son of the late Harley and Amber (Furlong) Grant. Murray and Iva owned and operated Murray's Esso and Restaurant, and the Fort Meductic Motel in Meductic for several years. Murray greatly enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar and the fiddle, and always welcomed the company of other musicians in his home. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Murray is survived by his children, Donna Foster (Curtis) of Marne, Larry Grant (Doreen) of Meductic, David Grant (Twiyla) of Riceville, and Nancy Jewett (Bev) of Keswick Ridge; a brother, Delton Grant (Gloria) of Meductic; a sister, Madeline Sharpe of St. Catherine's, Ontario; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by a brother, Aldous Grant. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dale Greer and Pastor Bev Jewett will officiate. Interment will take place in the Upper Meductic Cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the Meductic Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
