THOMPSON, DOROTHY ELIZABETH - Dorothy E. Thompson, age 78 years, Church Street, Westville, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2004 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Cumming) Swan. Dorothy was a graduate of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing Class of 47 and was an active member of the Aberdeen Hospital Nurses Alumna. She received her Registered Nurse Certificate and practiced her nursing in New Glasgow and Moncton and retired from nursing in Toronto. Upon their retirement in 1985 she returned to Pictou County. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Westville and an active member of the church choir as well as a member of The Trinitarians Choir. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Westville. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Allister Moore Thompson; children, David and wife Louise (LeBlanc), Dieppe, N.B., Ann and husband Eric MacLeod, Salisbury, N.B., John and wife Charlene (Jackson), Rocklin; six grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson, Shân and David Mulford, Erika and Leslie MacLeod, and Luke Thompson; sister Marion Wilson, Calgary. Visitations will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held 2 o'clock Thursday from the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Westville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
