LEO HERBERT MATHESON
MATHESON, LEO HERBERT - Mr. Leo Herbert Matheson, of Saint John, formerly of Lower Néguac, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the age of 82. Leo was born in Saint John and was the son of the late Harvey and Laura (MacKenzie) Matheson. Leo was a sheet metal worker and boiler maker. He was active in baseball for several years and a member of the St. Andrew's United Church choir in Tabusintac. Leo was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved as much as if they were his own children. Leo is also survived by cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Neoma (Ross) Matheson; three sisters, Marion, Eva, and Lillian; nine brothers: Ervine, Hilyard, Gordon, Malcolm, Cleveland, George, Walter, Stewart, and William. The family received relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home, on Monday, March 22, from 1 to 3. The funeral service was held from the Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, on Monday, March 22, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ron Feltmate officiating. Organist, Stanley MacDonald, accompanied the congregation in the singing of the hymn, In The Garden. Soloist, Brenda Floyd (niece), sang How Great Thou Art. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Tabusintac later in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Tabusintac Nursing Home.
