Florann 'Flo' Marie (MacLean) Gilmet

1939-2008 Reserve Mines It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of our dear wife and mother, Florann ‘Flo’ Gilmet, age 69, of Neville Street, Reserve Mines. Flo passed away on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Randel and Flora (MacMullin) MacLean. Flo was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Her greatest passion was playing bingo with all her ‘Bingo Buddies.’ Flo leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Joseph; daughter, Joanne (Brian Sinclair), Glace Bay; sons, Derrick (Kim), Dominion, and Corey, at home; four cherished grandchildren, B.J. (Brian), Kevin, Nellena and Edward; brother, Alfred (Isabel) and three sisters, Wilma (Herbert Gregory), Margie (late, Buddy McNeil), Dollina (Robert Pittman); and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Phillip, Mickie, Alley, John, Pete, Cecil ‘Dee’, Jimmy and a brother and sister in infancy, Joseph and Mary Ellen. Visitation for Flo Gilmet will be held Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Fr. Gerald Campbell will be officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
