45, Dutch Brook It is with deep regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Lorna Morrison, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret (McDonald) Morrison, Sydney, and the late Howard U. Morrison. Lorna was employed with Citizenship and Immigration as the Continuous Learning Co-ordinator. Lorna dedicated much of her time to Helping Hands of the Every Woman’s Centre. Lorna’s love for animals was well known, especially her horses, and she was an avid rider. Besides her mother, Margaret, she is survived by her partner, Jean MacQueen (daughter of Weston and Marjorie MacQueen), Dutch Brook; three sisters, Mary Morrison, Halifax, N.S., Amelia ‘Millie’ Morrison, Calgary, Alta., Lois (Muhammed) Morrison-Huq, Campbellville, Ont. She is also survived by her nieces, Stephanie, Kirsten, Jamila and Monita (Denny); nephew, Jaron; great-niece, Brooklyn; best friend, Nancy Antle. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at St. Andrew’s United Church with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment will take place in Dutch Brook Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Centre expansion, Palliative Care, or the Every Woman’s Centre.
