WILLIAM CROSS (BILL) KITCHEN

KITCHEN, WILLIAM CROSS (BILL) - William (Bill) Cross Kitchen passed away in Halifax, N.S., May 19th, 2004. Born in Saint John, N.B. in 1924. He was the son of Douglas G. and Lois Cross Kitchen. After graduating from R.C.S. in 1942 where he excelled in sports especially track and field, he served his country as an officer in the R.C.A.F. Following the war he moved to Halifax and was former President of Seaman and Cross and President of Chairs Ltd. and Nova Pine. Bill was nominated as Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year 1996 in recognition of his ingenuity, hard work and innovation to create successful and growing business ventures. Bill organized and served as the first president of the former Halifax association of the Retarded Children and the former Nova Scotia Association. He was a member of Board of Trade, Halifax Club, Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, Saraguay Club Ashburn Golf Club and Chester Golf Club. Bill is survived and greatly missed by his wife Nancy McDermaid, daughters Pammie of Windsor, N.S., Kelly of Quaticum, B.C., Betsy of Ottawa, ON, son Jamie of Kentville, N.S., granddaughter Toni Wilson and sister Jean and Doug McCormack of Rothesay, N.B. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Frances Williams and sister Ruth. Funeral service was held from All Saints Cathedral Friday May 21st. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Canadian Progress Club in the name of Kingsmeadow Residence.
