BEWICK, BRUCE RICHARD - Bruce Bewick died suddenly in Toronto on Saturday June 5, 2004 after six years of struggling with brain cancer. Despite his illness, he continued to pursue his career of teaching, along with a passion for painting and music. He is survived by his father Dr. John Bewick of Westfield, NB, and predeceased by his mother Margaret (Peggy) and brother Douglas. Survived by his brothers Dr. David Bewick (Catherine) of Rothesay and Jim (Laura) of Rochester, NY, and his sister Mary (Roger) Clowater of Aurora, Ontario and seven nieces and nephews. Born in Saint John, he was a graduate of Millidgeville North High School, the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB, and Dalhousie University Halifax, NS. Bruce was a dedicated teacher to his students and resided in Toronto. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home,111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). By request of the family, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held from the Church of the Good Shepard, Manawagonish Road, Saint John on Wednesday, June 9 at 11:00 am with the Venerable Arthur Gregg officiating. A private family graveside interment will follow at Cedar Hill Extension. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donors choice.
