GEORGE JEROME LANDRY

LANDRY, GEORGE JEROME - 1922-2004 Moncton N.B. - George Landry, age 81, of 1360 Champlain St., Dieppe, passed away at the George L. Dumont Hospital June 9th, 2004 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on November 13, 1922 in Saint John, where he grew up, to the late John Landry and the late Jane Kitchen. As a young man during the war, he went overseas as a radio operator with the merchant navy. For over a decade he travelled the four corners of the earth. He met his wife Adrienne at a corn boil in Fundy National Park in 1952. They were happily married for 51 years. He was an exemplary husband and wonderful father. George retired from Air Canada in 1982 after 34 years of service. He was an avid beekeeper and a faithful altar server at Saint-Bernard's Church. Gardening was a life long passion and nobody could grow roses or garlic better than him. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. George is survived by his wife, Adrienne Landry (Légere); two daughters, Elaine Landry (Francis Coutellier) of Shediac Bridge, Anne Pellerin (Roger) of Bonnyville, Alberta; two sons, Paul Landry (Carmelle Gauvin) of Dieppe, Eric Landry (Micheline Cormier) of Moncton; one sister Ellen Trainey of California, USA; one brother Robert Landry of Saint John, NB; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Janelle, Pierre, Andrew, Jean Bernard, Xavier and Richard. He was predeceased by one son, André in 1975; three brothers, John, Edward and William; and two sisters, Mary and Vernon. We wish to thank the staff that cared for him at the George L. Dumont Hospital and especially Dr. V. Melanson, Dr. M. Mallet, Dr. R. Deslaurier, Dr. A. Lirette and the wonderful group of nurses in the palliative care unit. We would also like to thank the priests and all those who offered prayers during his illness. We are forever grateful for all of your prayers and all that you have done for him. Thank you. There will be no visitation by family request. The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at St-Bernard's RC Church. Interment will be in RC Cemetery, Grande-Digue. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Cooperative Funéraire Passage Funeral Co-operative Shediac Bridge, NB, 532-1050.
