Alain Anctil

Born: June 4th, 1947

Passed on: August 2nd, 2007

Alain Anctil Baie Verte, NB - It is with great sorrow we announce the death of Alain Anctil, of Baie Verte, NB and formerly of Port Elgin, NB, dearly beloved husband of Roslyn (Cottingham) at Moncton City Hospital, August 2, 2007. Alain was born in Montreal, PQ June 4, 1947 to the late Rita and Jean-Marie Anctil. He was a loving brother to Jean-Guy (Joanne) of Val Joli, PQ. He will be missed by brothers-in-law Richard (Halifax), Robert (Lethbridge, AB), James (Charlottetown) and Peter (Baie Verte), and their families. When he was 24, Alain borrowed $35 from his mother for a one-way train ticket to Saint John, NB where he had found a job pipe-fitting at the Irving Refinery. It was in Saint John that he met Roz and their great adventure together began. They backpacked through Europe and explored wonderful spots all over this continent. Alain golfed, curled, skied, sailed, motorbiked, flew (his favorite, the powered parachute), ran a Montreal Marathon and pretty much built the house he and Roz so loved in Baie Verte where they enjoyed the company of friends and family. He would say his greatest adventure was his founding of Atlantic Windows in Port Elgin. The company was one of the first in eastern North America to manufacture PVC windows. Alain often said how proud he was of its success, and continuing success, of what started out as a little manufacturing operation with a handful of loyal employees; to him the success was in providing jobs for so many people in the rural southeastern part of the province. Respecting Alain's wishes, his remains have been cremated and there will be no funeral. Alain believed in supporting his community and as a thank you to a little community which supported him in so many ways, he would ask that if friends wish to make a donation in his memory, please do so to the Port Elgin and District Voluntary Action Group, Church St., Port Elgin. "And a youth said, speak to us of friendship. And he answered, saying: Your friend is your needs answered, He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving. And he is your board and your fireside. For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace." www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
