
JEAN MURPHY
MURPHY, JEAN - Jean Murphy of Bessborough Avenue, Moncton, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the age of 74. Born April 6, 1930 in Goshen, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Johanna (Hourihan) Purtill. A devoted homemaker, Jean was a selfless volunteer, and founded Birthright Moncton Chapter. She worked at Birthright as director and volunteer for 20 plus years, helping many area girls. An avid golfer, Jean was a member of Magnetic Hill, Lakeside, and Country Meadows, and held various offices in these clubs. A dedicated bridge player, she was a member of the Lions Senior Citizens Club and various clubs in Florida where Jean spent some several winters. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard (Dick) Murphy; children, Margaret Anne Crowell of Minto, Diane Marie of Moncton, and Thomas M. (Kelly) of St. John's; four grandchildren, Samuel, Jeremy, Kyle and Melissa; three sisters, Nellie Dyker (Hedley) of Rothesay, Francine O'Donell of Norton and Myrle Keirstead of Saint John. She was predeceased by a brother, Carson, and two sisters, Mary Sullivan and Evelyn Stevens. Resting at Cadman's Funeral Home, 114 Alma Street, Moncton, with visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Parish prayers will be held Sunday from the funeral home at 8:30pm. The funeral mass will be held from St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Dominion Street, Moncton on Monday, June 28, 2004 at 12 noon, with Father Allison Carroll officiating.
