PITTS, SISTER MAUREEN - Sister Maureen Pitts, 61, died in Palliative Care, VG Site, QEII, on July 8, 2004, following a short illness. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Brown) Pitts. She entered the Sisters of Charity in Halifax in 1977 and made her Religious Profession in 1980. A teacher before entering the Congregation, she taught in Dartmouth for many years, retiring in 1983. She was Diocesan Administrator for the Archdiocese of Halifax from 1983 to 1996. In 1996, she was elected Congregational Councillor-Treasurer, a position she held until August 2002. Subsequently, she was a consultant until her illness this year. She is survived by brother, Douglas (Nancy), Fredericton, N.B.; sister, Eleanor (Allan) Campbell, Wellington; niece, Sarah. The body will be in Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse, with visitation from 3-8 p.m., Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday in Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
