WILLIAM EDMUND HANLEY

HANLEY, WILLIAM EDMUND - Halifax, died July 13, 2004, in the QE II, Veteran's Memorial Hospital. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late William T. Hanley and Abigail (Campbell) Pyne. In 1938, he joined the Ford Motor Company with which he had a distinguished business career, both in Saint John and Halifax, retiring in 1973. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with the 4th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Parker Jenkins, Halifax; son, Douglas Parker Hanley and wife Diana, Dartmouth; daughter, Deborah Lynne McKee and husband Bill, Fall River; grandson, Christopher Edmund Hanley and wife Gina, Tantallon; granddaughter, Kathryn Louise Hanley and husband Rejean Bourque, and great-grandsons, Max Edmund Bourque and Fabien Lafrance Bourque, all of Dorval, Que. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 am Friday July 16, 2004, in J. A. Snow Funeral Home Chapel, 2666 Windsor St. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, 12 Eaton Ave., Dartmouth, N.S., B2Y 2X5 or a charity of your choice.
