BESSIE (nee CHRISTIANSEN) GRIFFITH

GRIFFITH, BESSIE (nee CHRISTIANSEN) - Bessie Griffith of Montreal Avenue, in her 95th year, went home to be with God. Her death occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 17th 2004. She was born in Saint John, former wife of the late W. Paul Griffith and daughter of the late Ludvig and Mary Christiansen (Poole). Mrs. Griffith graduated from Saint John High School and then from the Modern Business College in 1928. She was employed with the Federal Government, then with the American Army (Core of Engineers) as a secretary but most recently as a Counselor 3 at Dr. Roberts Children's Hospital until her retirement. She was a valued volunteer with the Saint John Special Olympics for many years. She is survived by one son Bryan Griffith (Audrey) of Riverview, two daughters Pauline Sears of Ontario and Christine Patterson (Donald) of Saint John. Predeceased by her daughter Valerie Badger (David). Loving grandmother of Angela Patterson, Cheryl Campbell, Janet Briggs, Don Patterson, Rick Patterson, Tim Badger, Debbie Pearson, Susan Curtis, Tom Badger, Tanya Griffith, Jennifer Griffith, Jeff Griffith, Susan Sears, Lew Sears, Brenda Sears and Cindy Summers and 32 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her special friend Thor. "Gram Bess" was known and loved by many. She was her family's biggest supporter. Bessie was the sole survivor of her family of 13 brothers and sisters. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Thursday July 22nd at 11:00am at Lancaster Baptist Church, Church Avenue West, followed by interment in Cedar Hill Extention Cemetery. Donations to the Animal Rescue League, Saint John Special Olympics or the NB Lung Association would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to A.W.
