MacFARLANE, GEORGE W. - The death of George Wadman MacFarlane, husband of the late Mary (Ruddock) MacFarlane and the late Doreen (Kipp) MacFarlane, occurred on July 27, 2004, at the Sussex Health Center. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Gertrude S. (Wadman) MacFarlane. His career with the Canadian Armed Forces spanned 32 years before he became an Assistant Purchasing Agent at the West Saint John Hospital retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Matthews Presbyterian Church having served as chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Carleton Curling Club, the Lancaster Senior Bowling League and the Welsford Golf Club. He is survived by his daughter Judy Carter and her husband Gilbert of Sussex, his step-children Donald Brown and his wife Elaine of Fairvale, Glendon Brown and his wife Megan of Australia, Judy Kern of British Columbia, his brother Murray MacFarlane and his wife Gretchen, his sisters Marion MacFarlane, Margaret Noble and Ruth Jones, all of Saint John, his grandchildren Geoffrey, Heather and Stephen, his step-grandchildren Tracey and Jason, his seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His brother Lester MacFarlane predeceased him. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 1:00 PM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
