DONALD JOHN SAVAGE
SAVAGE, DONALD JOHN - The death of Donald J. Savage occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital, on July 28th, 2004. Born October 1, 1923, in Chatham, N.B., he was the son of the late John and Katherine (Joudrey) Savage. Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene (Chapman) Savage, his three daughters, Kathy and Len Baird of Saint John, N.B., Janet Savage (Robin Hennigar) of Wolfville, N.S., and Holly Savage (David Conley) of Quispamsis, N.B.; three grandsons, John (Holly) Baird of Grand Bay-Westfield, Luke Baird and Logan Baird of Saint John and step-grandson Scott Conley of Quispamsis. Don was predeceased by brothers, Frederick, Lorne, and Sanford and sister Mary. Don was a veteran of WW2 who proudly served with the North Shore Regiment and was part of the first wave to land on Juno Beach, France in 1944. After the War, Don worked as an orderly at the DVA Hospital in Saint John until his retirement in 1982. He and Irene retired to Gagetown Village where Don enjoyed boating and community life. He was a great sports enthusiast who loved salmon fishing, horse racing and hockey. He was a member of Grace United Church. Don will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home. There will be no visitation by request, but family, relatives and friends will be welcomed to a Memorial Service at Grace United Church in Gagetown Village, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31st, 2004. Rev. Jennifer Brown and Rev. Don Krause officiating. Interment will be in the Grace United Church Cemetery, followed by a reception in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the N.B.
