HAROLD FRANCIS DOHERTY

DOHERTY, HAROLD FRANCIS - The death of Harold Francis Doherty of Fredericton, NB occurred on Thursday, August 19th, 2004 at the Veteran's Health Unit. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Eldora (Brock) Doherty and husband of Margaret (Shortall) Doherty. Harold served in England during World War II with the Canadian Fire Corps. On returning to the city he accepted the position of Fire Chief, a position he proudly held for 32 years. He was a pioneer in the Boy Scout movement in New Brunswick and the humble recipient of many honours throughout his life, including the Distinguished Citizen Award and induction into the New Brunswick Provincial Firefighters "Hall of Flame." Harold is survived by his wife, Margaret of Fredericton, NB; one daughter, Maureen Murray (Tom) of Yoho Lake, NB; three sons, Daniel (Linda) of Windsor Jct., NS, David (Connie) of Fredericton, NB and Dennis (Laura) of Lake George, NB; brother-in-law, Leger d'Entremont of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Tangelene Ramsay (Scott), Jason, Cary Norquay (Rodney), Ryan and Dennis; step-grandchildren, Kerrie Hallett (Jason) and Stephanie, Robert and Scott Murray; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Dylan Ramsay and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Brock and Thomas (Bud) and two sisters, Mary Dunphy and Ethel d'Entremont. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, August 20th, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 21st, 2004 at 11:00 am at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church. Monsignor Brian Sheehan as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hermitage Cemetery.
