HACHEY, SYLVIS "SYL" - The death of Sylvis Hachey of Tartan Street occurred unexpectedly on Saturday August 21, 2004. He was born in Port Landry and was the son of the late Robert and Helen (McGraw) Hachey and husband of the late Gelina Hachey. Sylvis was employed at McAvity's for 30 years. He was a member of St. Francois De Sales and also attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He belonged to the "Senior French Club" where he enjoyed socializing, playing pool, cards, bingo and various other activities. He was also a coach for many baseball and hockey teams and was well known throughout the city for his involvement. Survived by sons; Stephen Hachey of Saint John, Michael Hachey of Musquash, John Hachey of Saint John, daughter Katherine McLeod (Joe) of Musquash, brother Marcel Hachey of Quispamsis and sisters Christine Robichaud of Lameque and Clementine Savoie of Saint John. Also, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother Alexandre Hachey. Resting at A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francois De Sales (Boars Head Road) on Wednesday at 2:00 pm followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
