Dennis Mattinson MOUNT?PLEASANT - Dennis Fleet Mattinson, 92, of Mount Pleasant, Cumberland County, passed away peacefully at his home in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Born in Mount Pleasant, he was a son of the late Albert E. “Al” and Mary B. (Cloney) Mattinson. He spent his entire lifetime on the family farm involved in mixed farming, working with his father. Following the passing of his father, he continued to operate the farm until he was well into his 80s. He was an adherent of the United Church of Canada. He enjoyed reading, his cats, his home, his garden as well as family and friends He was a quiet man by nature, a kind and helpful neighbour and over the years he enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Surviving are niece, Ghlee Doncaster (Allan), Amherst; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and a number of cousins. He was predeceased by brother, Loran E. Mattinson (Amherst); and nephew, Dr. Cyril Mattinson (Coldbrook). Visitation was held on Friday afternoon and Friday evening. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Allen’s Funeral Home, Oxford. Rev. Gary MacDougall officated. Interment will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a later date.
