LORNE ELMER McGARRIGLE
McGARRIGLE, LORNE ELMER - Peacefully, at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB, on September 2, 2004, Mr. Lorne Elmer McGarrigle, husband of Helen (Justason) McGarrigle, of Blacks Harbour, NB, and the late Donaldine (Bradford) McGarrigle. Born at St. George, NB, on April 4, 1926, he was a son of the late James M. and Seretha (Leavitt) McGarrigle. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Lorne is survived, besides his wife, by three sons, Lorne Jr. "Sonny" (Pam) of Halifax, NS, Colin (Ruth) of Pennfield, NB, Frank (Noreen) of Blacks Harbour, NB; four daughters, Brenda (Norman) Gaudet of Pennfield, NB, Lorna (Gorman) Harris of Utopia, Mary Bustard of Langley, BC, Coralee Somerville of Baxter's Corner, NB; 19 grandchildren, 13 great - grandchildren; five brothers, James McGarrigle, Kenny McGarrigle, Gerald McGarrigle, all of Blacks Harbour, NB, Everett McGarrigle of Tracadie, NB, and Wesley McGarrigle, of St. Stephen, NB; three sisters, Florence Leavitt of Back Bay, NB, Doris Nason, of St. George, NB, and Emma Maillet, of Blacks Harbour, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Donaldine, and two sisters, Mary Walsh and Linda Matheson, and one brother William. Lorne worked for 54 years for Connors Bros. Ltd. as a labourer. For the last 15 years of his working career, he worked at the Fundy Arena until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and took active part in the local sports circuit, having been one of the founding fathers of the Blacks Harbour Silver Kings and former owner of the Blacks Harbour Junior Silver Kings. He also was Head Coach and General Manager for the former Blacks Harbour Brunswicks Baseball Team for many years. He enjoyed fishing and clamming and was an honorary member of the Charlotte Fundy Kins Club. Resting at the Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour, NB, from where the service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating. Visiting hours at the church on Friday and Saturday, September 3rd and 4th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Interment will follow at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Lorne's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Fundy Nursing Home Expansion Project, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
