Donald Helm

AMHERST - Having fought the battle of Cancer for over two years, Donald B. Helm peacefully passed away at his home in Amherst at the age of 67 on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Born in Tidnish in 1940, he was a son of the late Perce and Constance (Mosley) Helm. Donald always loved to sing harmony. He displayed his talent through his membership in the Barbershop Quartet, “The Sounds Of Cumberland” and the Immanuel United Church Choir. An avid outdoorsmen, he enjoyed hunting & fishing. He will be sadly missed by his wife Christina; daughter Deborah (Dale Gray) Helm of Lower Sackville; 3 brothers, Gordon (Geraldine) of Tidnish, John (Randi) of Tidnish, Barry (Edith) of Fort Lawrence; and sister Marie of Hamilton, ON, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides parents, he was predeceased by his son William “Billy” Helm in 1977. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777) where a time of visitation will take place on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will take place at the Furlong~Jones Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2 pm, William Drysdale LPMiT, officiating. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring.
