Douglas Hugh Martin AMHERST - Douglas Hugh Martin 88 years of Gables Lodge, Amherst and formerly of Springhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in the Lodge with his family by his side. Born November 11, 1918 in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Owen Sr. and Mina (Bourgeois) Martin. Surviving is his son Jack (Bonnie) Martin, Springhill; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kristopher, Megan and Ashley; brother, Owen Martin Jr., Springhill; sisters, Ruth Davis of Springhill and Dorothy MacDonald of ; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Florence O'Brien; brother, Malcolm; sister, Theresa Dujay. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Monday, August 27, 2007 from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in North Street Roman Catholic Cemetery, Springhill. If so desired, donations to the St. John's Roman Catholic Church or charity of choice would be appreciated.
