MARCH, HILYARD - age 90, of Musquash passed away peacefully at the St. John/St. Stephen Nursing Home on Sunday, October 3, 2004. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Stephenville, NF, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (O'Quinn) March and husband of over 50 years to the late Helen (DeRoche) March. He was employed by the Department of Transportation for many years working out of the Musquash Garage. Hilyard was the definition of an "Outdoor Enthusiast". Hunting, fishing and trapping were his passion and he guided many a hunter through the woods. Always full of energy, he walked many miles daily never letting his years slow him down. He was a wonderful musician. His accordion and harmonica playing brought warmth and joy to his family and even to his new friends at the nursing home. Hilyard is survived by his only son "Hilly" (Cindy) March of Maces Bay, grandchildren Sheryl (Don) Scott of Saint John, Derek (Vicki) March of Musquash, and Morgan March of Maces Bay, great grandchildren Devin, Chelsea, and Shelby, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Hilyard was also predeceased by his brothers Matt and Joe, sisters Jean, "Sis" (Cecilia) and Bertha, and granddaughter Lorene. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 6, 2004 from St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Garden. Following the burial a reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Donations to the charity of donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
