Edith Gertrude McKearney Inglisville NS - Edith Gertrude McKearney, 87, of Inglisville, NS, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Hughena (Sutherland) Daine. Edie wore several hats in her working career but her proudest accomplishment was her role as mother and grandmother. She was a long standing member of the Order of Eastern Star. Edie had a unique spirit, was very thoughtful and kind hearted, with a great sense of humor, a friend to many and was loved by all. Edie loved nature, animals and the simple things in life. She is survived by daughters, Rosemary (Roger) Atkinson, Truemanville, NS; Margaret (Perry) Spinney, Greenwood, NS; sons, John, Halifax and Charlie, Inglisville; grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Spinney; Jessica, Hillary and Taylor Atkinson and Sean McKearney; nieces, Elizabeth Dekker, Halifax; Janet MacNeil, Dartmouth and best friend, Nettie Nolan, Amherst. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph and her sister, Jean Dekker. Edie will be sorely missed by all, especially her friends at Sweets Forever Bakery in Middleton. Cremation has taken place. As per Edie's wishes there will not be a funeral service but instead a celebration of her life with a tea at the Falcourt Inn, 8979 Highway 201, Nictaux, on Saturday August 25, 2-4 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Truemanville Cemetery, Cumberland Co. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
