Eileen Lusby AMHERST - Eileen Lusby, age 89, of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec.17, 2007, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Pictou Landing N.S., she was a daughter of the late Winslow and Hazel (Lane) Stokes. Eileen was educated in Truro and graduated from Nova Scotia Normal College, following which she taught 10 years in rural schools in Cumberland County and Amherst. After her marriage, she worked with her husband on the family Farm, Crestlane Dairy Farm. Following a devastating fire in 1963, she and Harold established a layer operation, distributing eggs in the Cumberland and Westmorland counties until the business was sold in 1981. Eileen was very active in the First Baptist Church where she served on Boards of Deacons and C.E., Superintendent of C.G.I.T., co-superintendent of Sunday School, Maritime Baby Band Secretary Treasurer and a life member of Senior/Greta Grimmer WMS. Eileen was a Charter Life member of The Lord Amherst IODE. Eileen enjoyed her garden, travelling and her cottage at Amherst Shore. Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Harold; daughters, Beth (Jim Bissell) of Ottawa Ont., and Linda (Peter Smith) of Wolfville, N.S.; sister Ursula Lynds of Truro, N.S.; three grandchildren, Mary Beth, Liam and Alex Bissell; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Cyril, Roy and Brice. Her remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev.
