WILMOT WEBB
WEBB, WILMOT - It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected sudden passing of Wilmot Kenneth Webb of Fredericton, New Brunswick at home on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the age of 68. Born in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick on October 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Basil and Raymona Webb (Flowers). He was predeceased by his sister, Valentine Webb. He is survived by his partner, Ona Tracy; sons, Michael Webb (Becky) of Fredericton, James Webb (Valerie) of Fredericton Junction, Bruce Webb (Catherine) of New Maryland; grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Sean and Scott; former spouse, Edna Webb; brother, Richard Webb (Rose); niece, Tammy Webb; niece, Janice (Johnson) Johnson; nephew, Dr. Scott (Chris) Myles; and nephew, Philip Myles. Will grew up in Fredericton Junction and enjoyed his "cabin in the woods". He loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He fished many years on the Miramichi and enjoyed his hunting trips at his Peltoma Lake Camp. He was a past winner of the Canadian International Tuna Cup. He was an entertainer. He loved singing and playing his ukulele and bass. He was a Barbershopper and was a frequent reciter of "Robert's Service" and "Stanley Holloway". Will was the President of W. K. Webb & Associates Ltd. which he established in 1976. He serviced clients throughout the Atlantic Provinces. He was also a Branch Manager for Dundee Private Investors Inc. Will possessed a keen sense of business, and had the respect of his employees and business associates. In 1963, he became a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and was also a graduate of the Canadian Securities Course. He was a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table for twenty-five years and also qualified for Court of the Table in 1989 and 1991. He served on an Estate Planning Advisory Council for Atlantic Canada. He also served on the faculty of the Life Underwriters Association Atlantic School for Continuing Education for Life Insurance and served on the faculty of the Ontario School at Geneva Park. Will held managerial and executive positions with two major life insurance companies before establishing his own company. Between 1968 and 1973 he was Superintendent of Agencies in Canada and the United States for the former Confederation Life. He was the Field Vice-President of Maritime Life for Central and Eastern Canada from 1973-1976. Will was very community oriented and was Mayor of Fredericton Junction from 1980-1986. He was also the President of Legion Estates Inc., a non-profit organization for senior citizens housing. During his lifetime Will participated in or served in various leadership capacities as Director of the Independent Financial Brokers of Canada; Director of the Miramichi Salmon Association; the Fredericton YMCA Endowment Fund; Kiwanis Club; Shriners; Sunbury Masonic Lodge #42; Member of the Century Club YMCA of Fredericton; Thistle Fishing Club Inc.; the Quebec International Bonspiel; Life Member of the Gladstone Curling Club; and Member of the Hinchey Hunting and Fishing Lodge Inc. Visitation will be held at the Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church on Friday, October 8, 7:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday, October 9, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church on Sunday, October 10 at 2:00 pm. with the Rev. James Harrison officiating. Interment to follow in the Tracy Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Brent Blizzard, Dick Hartt, Francis Alexander, Greg Golden, Bill McCracken, and Don Nason. Honorary pallbearers are Enver Sampson, George Unsworth, Dave Unsworth; Arnold Alward, Don Smith, Reg Saunders, Dick Norrad, Alfred Blizzard and Treston Mersereau. In lieu of flowers donations to the Tri-County Complex (Fredericton Junction) or the Queen Sunbury West Memorial Ambulance would be appreciated.
